The owners of this beautiful Victorian property came to us with a vision to create a welcoming and social family kitchen. With high ceilings and bi-fold doors leading to the patio and garden beyond, they took advantage of the generous space, incorporating a mix of floor-to-ceiling, base and wall-mounted kitchen units in a classic Shaker style, plus a show-stopping central island.
The owners opted for a luxurious waterfall-effect with the Bergen quartz -coated island, and a more pared-back coral clay finish for the perimeter surfaces, creating a texturally intriguing design. The island includes deep drawers at one end, and enough space on either side to accommodate many guests.
The kitchen zones have been clearly defined, with entertaining on one side and cooking on the other. By contrasting the pale Skimming Stone colour against the dark Hudson Black, the effect is cool and dramatic. On the entertaining side, the homeowners wanted chic wine fridges, bookended by slim wine racks, and large glass-fronted kitchen units above to showcase their glassware. Central to this wall is a mirrored nook which offers more work surface and adds a striking visual element.
On the cooking side, the homeowners opted for a double range cooker, with the extraction system hidden under the original fireplace mantle. A large double-bowl ceramic sink is offset by the gold tap- a theme elegantly continued throughout the space within the details.
Within the floor-to-ceiling cabinetry lining, the back wall is a double-height fridge, mirrored by a freezer on the other side. Nestled within- a breakfast nook, a bespoke pantry and further storage, hidden away by sliding doors. The handles are T-bars in a mix of gold and silver against the different coloured cabinetry, continuing the contrasting and dramatic scheme.
