A closer look at our Cheadle Hulme project: a beautiful blue kitchen design

A wide shot of a blue kitchen design with a large island in the centre

Let's take a closer look at one our projects from earlier in 2023, Cheadle Hulme. Our clients were a young couple who wanted to create a space ideal for entertaining. The space felt really open and welcoming - with high ceilings and a huge amount of natural light pouring in. We loved the symmetry in this blue kitchen design, and some key features included the bespoke larder cupboard, beautiful reeded glass frontals, and the silver antique mirror splashback.

Blue kitchen cupboards with natural light shining in through the window

There's a really lovely depth to the cabinetry colour - hand-painted with Farrow & Ball's De Nimes shade. This shade is described as a ‘down to earth and grounding blue’. We love how the appearance of the blue changes in the differing light. It's a stylish shade that will stand the test of time.

The cabinetry colour complemented the worktops wonderfully - which are Calacatta Gold Quartz. The matt black finish on the hardware and the pendant lighting gives the space a contemporary edge that was in-keeping with the interior style seen in the rest of the home.

Blue kitchen drawers being openeing to showcase the internals

Every single detail was carefully considered to create a space that felt just right - from the cupboards and colours, to the fittings and internals.

What goes on behind closed drawers matters just as much as the external design elements for a beautiful and fuctional space that you love spending time in.

There was a mix of shallow and deep drawers, internal drawer organisers, a cold shelf in the larder, amongst other smart storage solutions. Ensuring your kitchen has a home for everything, to keep the space organised, is imperative for a happy kitchen!

A larder cupboard with a coffee machine and mugs inside

The bespoke larder cupboard was the client's favourite feature in the kitchen. As keen coffee enthusiasts, this was the perfect place for a coffee station and collection of stylish mugs. Larder cupboards can be utilised in any way you wish, but can be ideal in saving on valuable worktop space elsewhere in the kitchen when used to house appliances such as coffee machines. What's more, it can be neatly hidden away after use so the kitchen design remains seamless and clutter-free.

The larder also included push to open drawers and a cold shelf.

Our client was absolutely delighted with the outcome of their kitchen design, and left us the below feedback. Our top priority is always our client's happiness, so we love hearing kind words like this...

“Thank you to everyone at Thomas James for our stunning kitchen! It was a fantastic experience from start to finish; with designer Andrew, creating and refining our vision. Martin, who meticulously fitted the kitchen whilst being constantly pestered by our dog. And Tom, who went above and beyond for us.

We would highly recommend Thomas James to anyone looking for a bespoke kitchen; friendly staff, high standard of finish and craftsmanship, and transparency.”
