Handles aren't always the most exciting detail to pay attention to when planning a kitchen makeover. With so many more interesting and important features to dedicate your time to, such as work surfaces and colour schemes, handles can easily be swept to the back of your mind.

However, choosing the right style, size, and finish for your handles can significantly impact the overall look of the room. Whether you want to complement the cabinetry design or add an accenting feature, the plethora of options can be overwhelming. This is why, at Thomas James Bespoke, we've proudly partnered with Armac Martin, a prestigious and experienced finishings manufacturer who share our passion for quality and durability. Their unique and beautiful designs are exquisitely crafted from the finest materials and are available in an array of finishes to perfectly augment your new kitchen.

Armac Martin's latest range is the Crossways, an elegant and luxury collection which hints at an art-deco style. The stylish geometric design is perfectly at home in a contemporary or more traditional kitchen, blending function with decorative flair. The range can be entirely customised to suit your needs and style, available in finishes such as antique copper, satin chrome and chocolate bronze.

We recommend a mixture of handle designs; for example, pairing cups for large drawers with knobs on cupboards. Textural accents can bring about a more intriguing feel to the overall aesthetic, and offer a more bespoke experience. The new Crossways range features a number of exciting new designs such as ring pulls and drop handles, which again nod towards a retro theme. By utilising these handles on free-standing furniture such as a display cabinet, you can create an eye-catching feature piece, without compromising on function.

Heavy-use cupboards are best suited to more practical styles, such as the T-bar, which provides ample grip with more clearance from the cabinetry surface. In contrast, a flush ring pull, whilst less practical, is a modern option for those looking for a minimalist yet luxurious feel.

When considering finishes, it's important to keep in mind other features, such as taps, work surfaces and cabinetry colours. Choosing a colour scheme which will encompass all these elements can be challenging, which is why our dedicated in-house design team are available to help you make the right decision. We love the use of burnished brass handles with a light shade such as our French Grey paint for cabinetry, which perfectly accentuates a kitchen's elegant and timeless atmosphere. Alternatively, strong colours like royal blue paired with shining chrome handles creates a stylish and modern scheme.

Despite their obvious practical importance, choosing the right handles for your kitchen is crucial for the overall look and feel of the space, which shouldn't be overlooked. They can instantly turn a room from hastily put together to carefully and considerately designed.
