Spring Styling tips for your space

Are you looking for new ways to inject life into your home this Spring? Springtime can encourage a cleaner, brighter and fresher perspective on your living space, and it's a great time of year to evaluate how you live and consider how you can update and freshen your home. With that in mind, here are our five top tips for updating your home for Spring.

Freshen up fabrics

Swapping out soft furnishings with something bright yet soft as we transition from winter to Spring is the perfect way to freshen up any space.

Switch out softly coloured velvet pillows and blankets to linen, soft-tone fabrics, all of which add a bright and airy feel for Spring. Other spring-refresh swaps include changing rugs around: you could have a complete revamp and swap one from upstairs to downstairs, or if you have storage space, switch a heavier design for a lighter-weight cotton version and roll up the winter rug until fall.

Leave thicker living room curtains behind and opt for something more lightweight over the Summer months - another way to make the room feel more airy and light. Declutter windowsills, too, if you keep things on them; the key at this time of year is to let in as much natural light as possible.

Florals for Spring? Groundbreaking...

A little added colour in the home can go a long way. For example, placing flowers around a room where you can see them can improve your mood and help you connect better with others. The great thing about flowers is that they come in all shapes, sizes and colours - they're the perfect way to compliment your new household designs or help rethink your home's internal look.

Mirror Placement

From statement mirrors that double up as a piece of art to sleek and simple shapes that add a subtle elegance, hanging a mirror opposite a window will allow it to reflect the maximum amount of natural light. Still, it also needs to work with the existing layout of your Space. For example, they make great focal points when hung over fireplaces, consoles, and sofas, so take this into account and consider a furniture re-shuffle if it's practical to do so.

Natural light is key within the home all year round. Besides its physical benefits, it brings energy to a space, enhancing colours and textures and influencing mood and atmosphere.

Art and Photo Frames

Updating photo frames for Spring can be as simple as adding photos of the family or reworking the existing artwork in your home. Try rethinking a gallery wall or reframing and moving a statement piece to a new spot.

It's surprising how something much-loved can feel fresh in a different location. So if you want to buy new artwork, look for prints that add a pop of colour to the room – for a natural Spring feel, try citrus yellows or Mediterranean blues to welcome in the oncoming warmer months.

Spring Clean

It's an age-old tradition to tidy up around the home at this time of year. "Spring cleaning," when done with the windows thrown open and music playing in the background, can feel less like a chore and more like a joy. In addition, it's an opportunity to give your space some TLC that may have been missed over the winter months.

Focus on things like hoovering carpets and wiping floorboards with a damp cloth. Clean the windows, inside and out, so the sun can shine even brighter—Hoover and dust all those hard-to-reach spaces, like ceiling fans and high cabinets.
