Handle Finishes

We are proud to partner with Armac Martin, a manufacturer of brass for over 90 years. Their diverse collection of handles are expertly crafted in England and feature the highest level of craftsmanship, design and detailing.

Every brass handle is designed and created at their workshop in Birmingham, by highly qualified experts in their field. Brass is one of the most popular materials used for handles and comes in a variety of different finishes. We discuss each finish below.

Polished Brass Lacquered

Polished Brass Lacquered

This polished brass lacquered handle features a beautiful smooth mirrored finish and is finished with a coating of highly durable clear gloss lacquer. Each handle is then baked in an Armac Martin oven, to harden the lacquer ensuring the finish is protected from day-to-day use.

Like the lacquered brass handle, the unlacquered handle is hand polished creating a smooth mirrored finish. However being unlacquered, the finish naturally oxides and will patina over time.

Satin Brass handles are hand sateened, giving a brushed satin finish. The highly durable clear gloss lacquer is applied and baked in an oven. Giving the lacquer long-lasting protection from day-to-day use and oxidisation.

The unlacquered option of the satin brass handle is finished by hand, however, is not lacquered, meaning the handle will naturally oxidise and patina over time.

Sateened by hand, this handle finish is created by applying an antique patina before being relieved back to create the final antique finish. This finish is then coated in a highly durable clear gloss giving lasting protection.

By leaving this handle unlacquered, the finish will naturally oxidise with the appearance changing over time due to use.

This finish is created by hand sateening the handle, applying an antique patina and then reliving back, giving an antique satin finish. The handle is then oven-baked in lacquer, giving the handle a durable and protective final layer.

The unlacquered variation of the satin antique handle is finished by hand, however, is not lacquered, meaning the handle will eventually oxidise and patina over time

To create the antique copper finish, copper plate is applied on top of the brushed satin handle. A polisher then relieves the finish, giving a beautiful antique copper finish. A clear satin lacquer is then applied, before finally placing the handle in an oven to bake and set.
